Pooja Vastrakar who is a female by gender is an Indian cricket player who presently represents both Madhya Pradesh and India. The 24-year-old was born on September 25, 1999 in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, India. She is single and unmarried.
A look at Pooja Vastrakar’s career so far
Vastrakar first took up cricket alongside the boys in Shahdol, Madhya Pradesh, close to her home. Later, she began travelling to the stadium to practise net batting, and it was then that coach Ashutosh Shrivastava saw her potential and initiated her official training.
She joined the India Green Women Squad at the age of fifteen. Vastrakar injured her knee in 2016 while fielding in a senior women’s domestic competition. This resulted in her anterior cruciate ligament injury requiring surgery, hence jeopardising her chance of being called up to the national team.
Vastrakar’s selection for India’s South Africa tour in 2018 was greatly influenced by the Challenger Trophy.
She is an all-around player who bats and bowls right-arm medium-fast. In 2018, she played her first international match for India against South Africa.
