Kyle Smith, the head coach of Washington State, is moving to the ACC after leading the Cougars to their finest season in recent memory. On Monday, Stanford revealed that Kyle Smith of will take over as the team’s next men’s basketball coach.
As Stanford gets ready to enter the ACC the following season, Smith, who was selected the Pac-12 Coach of the Year this season, will replace Jerod Haase at the school.

Kyle Andrew Smith is an American college basketball coach now serving as the men’s head coach for the Pac-12 Conference’s Stanford Cardinals. The 54-year-old was born on June 15, 1969 in El Paso, Texas, U.S
A look at Kyle Smith’s career
After spending with the Cougars for the previous five seasons, Smith is leaving the team after having his finest year ever. For the first time since 2008, Washington State finished 25-10 and advanced to the NCAA tournament.
They had their best season since the Tony Bennett era in Pullman, going 25-10, and making their way back to the national rankings. Over his five seasons at Washington State, Smith has an overall record of 94-71.
In their first game of the NCAA tournament, the Cougars defeated No. 10 Drake on Thursday; however, in the second round on Saturday, they were eliminated by No. 2 Iowa State.
Smith held head coaching positions at Washington State University, Columbia University, and the University of San Francisco before joining the Cardinal.
Against UC Irvine, he guided Columbia to a CIT Championship in his last season there. He has been labelled a “Nerdball” coach because of his use of analytics to monitor and decide on a variety of team-related matters.
