WTC Final 2021: What Should be India’s Bowling Attack for the WTC Final?
There are many quality bowlers in the Indian squad and everyone has performed well to be in the squad for the WTC final. The likes of Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Siraj, Washington Sundar, and Axar Patel all have been excellent in recent times for India in the longest format.
Pace Bowlers
The pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, and Mohammad Shami should be the three pacers for India in the final. They have performed exceptionally well and deserve to play the World Test Championship final for India. In the last three years, Jasprit Bumrah has picked up 69 wickets in 16 tests averaging 21.47 while Ishant Sharma has picked 69 wickets too in 20 test matches during this time at an average of 19.84.
While speculations are that Mohammad Siraj can replace Mohammad Shami, But Shami has picked 70 wickets in 20 Tests at an average of 25.51 and should be the third pacer in the Indian bowling attack. Indian pacers combined have taken 208 wickets in 56 tests in the last three years at an average of 22.47.
Spin Bowlers
Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin should be the two spinners for India in the WTC Final. Ravichandran Ashwin is the second-highest wicket-taker in international test cricket in the last three years. He has picked 98 wickets in 21 matches at an average of 21.91. Ravindra Jadeja on the other hand has 55 wickets in 16 test matches averaging 26.07.
Both the spinners have done well and both especially Jadeja will contribute with the bat as well. Jasprit Bumrah, Ishant Sharma, Mohammad Shami, Ravichandran Ashwin, and Ravindra Jadeja is the ideal bowling line-up for India for the World Test Championship final.
