The officer, however, opted not to comment on the allegations made by the deceased’s family. The SP stated, “Further action in response to the incident will be initiated based on the complaint filed by the family members.”
Hamirpur Police Haven’t Registered FIR
As of now, Hamirpur police have not yet registered an FIR regarding the alleged suicide. The deceased individual is the father of one of the two girls discovered hanging in a Kanpur district village last week.
The two minors, aged 16 and 14, reportedly experienced gang r*pe after going missing on February 28. Later that evening, their lifeless bodies were found hanging from a tree, situated 400 meters from a brick kiln in Kanpur.
The police clarified that both the victims and the accused hailed from the same village in the neighboring Hamirpur district. Previously, the family members of the two girls asserted that the minors had been subjected to gang r*pe a few days prior to their deaths by the brick kiln contractor, Ramroop Nishad (48), his son Raju (18), and nephew Sanjay (19). All three are Hindus by religion.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused had recorded a video of the act to blackmail the girls, a piece of evidence that was recovered by the police.
The bodies were discovered on February 29, and on the same day, all three accused were apprehended by Kanpur police and subsequently sent to jail. The accused face charges under the Indian Penal Code sections 376D (gang r*pe), 306 (abetment to suicide), and the Protection of Children Against S*xual Offences (POCSO) Act.
