As JuJu Watkins and Caitlin Clark shine in women’s basketball, let us have a look at their stats and know who is better vs the two
Caitlin Clark and Juju Watkins, both the girls are making waves in women’s basketball.
With 26 points from Watkins No. 7 Southern California defeated Arizona State 70-55 on Saturday to round up the regular season. Halfway through the first quarter, USC led 18-12 thanks to 11 points by Watkins on 4-of-6 shooting.
On the other hand, On Sunday, Clark once again created history when she surpassed Pete Maravich’s record for the most Division I points scored by both genders. Her total score was 3,685 points, with 35 points coming in Iowa’s 10-point victory over Ohio State.
Since Clark shot up to 26.6 points per game in 2020–21, Watkins is the most productive freshman in college history. Calm as she is, the young Trojan is headed towards a record that Clark took four years (or more) to compile.
JuJu Watkins vs Caitlin Clark basketball career stats, total points, three point percentage and who is better
Because of her spectacular three-point shooting, Clark scored 26.6 points per game on average as a rookie. She played in 30 games and made 40.6 percent of her threes during her first campaign in Des Moines. With 799 points in her debut season, she had one of the best scoring seasons ever for an NCAA freshman.
On the other hand, Watkins is getting started in college at an even more hectic pace. This season, the 18-year-old has scored 751 points through 27 games, or 27.8 points a night.
Play-by-play commentator Gus Johnson of Fox Sports boldly predicted that Watkins, a freshman from USC, will shatter Caitlin Clark’s record for the most NCAA Division I points scored.
Johnson said during the broadcast that Watkins would break Clark’s record if she continues at USC for the next three years, since Clark was fouled in the closing seconds of the Iowa-Ohio State game on Sunday afternoon.
I know everyone thinks Caitlin Clark's scoring record is going to stand forever, but JuJu Watkins already as 751 total points this year.
If she averages out in just two more games, she'll over 800 points, which CC did not reach her freshman year.
