Who is Praveen Khandelwal?
Praveen Khandelwal is an Indian politician, currently associated with the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). He has been in the news because the BJP nominated him for the Chandni Chowk seat for the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
He was born in 1960 in Delhi, India. After completing his schooling, Praveen got his BA degree in 1980 from Ramjas College, University of Delhi. Later on, he completed his LLB in 1983 from the same institution.
Praveen has more than 28 thousand followers on X. He is currently 63 years old.
His career
Praveen Khandelwal was named to the government’s GST panel in 2017. On July 5, 2021, he took on the position of advisor on the Central Government panel for the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC), which allowed him to continue influencing economic policy.
He launched the second phase of the campaign, “Indian Goods – Our Pride.” The goal of this campaign was to encourage a national boycott of Chinese goods in order to reduce imports of items made in China by a significant 1 lakh crore (about 13 billion USD) by December 2021.
Interestingly, on August 15, 2021, India’s Independence Day, Praveen Khandelwal made a daring move by introducing Bharat-e-Market, a new e-commerce platform that aims to compete with well-known companies like Amazon India and Flipkart, which is supported by Walnut.
In addition to his business pursuits, Praveen has demonstrated his dedication to supporting and advancing the interests of merchants throughout the nation by founding and serving as general secretary of the Confederation of All India Merchants (CAIT).
Notably, Praveen Khandelwal has been given a ticket by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to contest the Chandni Chowk Lok Sabha seat in the upcoming 2024 general elections.
