Ryan Curtis suffers a career-ending injury
Dublin-based MMA fighter Ryan Curtis suffered a brutal injury during a training session on January 11, 2024. According to reports, Curtis suffered brutal injuries to his neck, back, and spine. Right after suffering the injuries, Cutis underwent emergency surgery at the Royal Victoria Hospital located in Belfast. Curtis currently does not have any movement in both his arms or legs due to the brutal spinal surgery. As of now, there is no exact timeframe for his full recovery, and the next five months will prove crucial for Curtis.

Ryan Curtis is a professional MMA fighter who recently suffered brutal career-ending injuries. He is a flyweight fighter and has a professional record of seven wins and four losses. Ryan Curtis hails from Dublin, Ireland, and he is currently 31 years old. He trains out of Fight Academy Ireland in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and he is a close friend of Leah McCourt, the Bellator women’s featherweight contender.

Ryan Curtis professional career
As an amateur fighter, Ryan remained undefeated in his three amateur fights, following which he made his professional debut back in 2011 against Fabio Viti. He fought his first fight in the now-defunct BattleZone FC and managed to win via first-round submission. Curtis then fought his second professional fight at ICE FC, where he went on to record a 3-0 record. He managed to secure all first-round finishes with victories over Reece Sweet, Lewis Loftus, and John Spencer. The recently injured fighter then fought at the now-defunct BAMMA, where he had a 1-1 fight record after winning against Shamsul Haque but losing to Daniel Barez.
Curtis then competed at Bellator 217, where he won against Luis Gonzalez via an impressive first-round KO. However, he lost to Amir Albazi at Brave CF 29, followed by another loss to Tom Creasy at ECMMA. However, Curtis made a rebound with a victory against Ryan Taylor at Cage Conflict but lost his fight against Nicolas Leblond at Cage Warriors. Prior to his injury, he was getting ready to headline Cage Conflict 12 in a fight against David Scarano.
The Irishman, who had been professional since 2015 fighting for the Cage Warriors and Bellator Bills, ends his career with a record of six wins and four losses.

The pair started dating sometime around early 2019 after meeting each other through their mutual friend Leah McCourt. The couple has a daughter together named Kassia Pauline Zacharopoulou-Curtis, who was born on February 28, 2021. Following their daughter’s birth, the couple baptized their daughter at the Greek Orthodox Church in Ireland on June 27, 2022. Besides their daughter, the couple also has two dogs.
