On January 5, 2023, early on a Friday morning, Tarver Braddock, a 15-year-old student at Neville High School in Monroe, was killed in a fire at a deer camp as per his obituary and cause of death

Neville High School football coach Jeff Tannehill texted the USA TODAY Network to confirm the heartbreaking news of Tarver Braddock’s passing. In addition, he asked everyone to show Braddock’s family their condolences and support during their time of grief over their son’s passing.

Tarver and a few other students were at a hunting camp in Jefferson County, Mississippi, early on Friday morning when a fire broke out on the porch, according to different accounts. It is said that Tarver’s friends made an unsuccessful attempt to rescue him from the burning camp. Five students who were able to leave the camp injured and one dead were discovered by the authorities upon their arrival, according to Sheriff James Bailey.

Two of the five students were hospitalized for smoke inhalation, according to the Mississippi State Fire Marshal’s Office, and one was sent to the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s burn centre. According to KNOE, the other two have been let go.

Condolences pour in after the unfortunate demise of Tarver

Staff and students at Neville High School are in grief for Tarver Braddock, 15, who lost his life early on Friday morning in an explosion at a hunting camp. Many people expressed their condolences for Tarver, who played as a junior defensive back for the school’s football team, the Tigers. Neville High School football coach Jeff Tannehill requested prayers for Tarver’s family in a message provided to USA TODAY.

Neville Tiger Network honoured the late student and sent their sympathies to his bereaved family via a Facebook post. Benjy Lewis, the head coach of Ouachita Parish High School, said in a different Facebook post that Tarver was a courteous young man who will be much missed in the community.

The Neville softball team, Bayou Jamb Stadium, and Louisiana sports radio station K104 were a few of the many individuals who showered social media with praise for the gifted player.

Authorities confirm that the fire event that resulted in the 15-year-old’s death is being investigated while the community struggles with the sad loss.
