England are all set to travel across India for a five-match test series starting on January 25, 2023.
England announces tour of India squad
Alongside Bashir, England have added two more uncapped players in the form of left-arm spinner Tom Hartley and pacer Gus Atkinson. James Anderson is also included in the squad, along with Jack Leach, Rehan Ahmed, and Tom Hartley, as the other three spinners in the 16-member team.

Shoaib Bashir is an English professional cricketer who was born on October 13, 2003, in Chertsey, UK but details about his parents aren’t known. He plays for Somerset on the domestic level as a right-handed batsman and a right-arm off-break bowler. Shoaib made his first-class debut for Somerset against Essex on June 11, 2023. He then went on to make his T20 Blast debut for Somerset against Hampshire on June 7, 2023.

Despite being just 20 years old and hugely lacking in experience, in Bashir impressed England selectors during Englandโs recent training camp in the UAE. As an off-spinner, Bashir has largely impressed everyone with his different variations. Bashir possesses a quick arm movement in his bowling that gives batters less time to react as compared to other deliveries from off-spinners.

Shoaib Bashir started out his cricket career by playing for the Guildford Cricket Club in Surrey. Despite being born and raised in Surrey County, Somerset County recognized his talents at a very young age and soon included him in their camp. Bashir eventually signed a contract with Somerset County in October 2022. He then went on to make his debut for Somerset during a T20 game against their arch-rivals Hampshire. Just four days after this match, he made his first-class debut against Essex.
Shoaib Bashir played in only six first-class games for Somerset during the recently concluded county season.
