According to reports, Valsala passed away on November 21 at the KMCT Medical College in Mukkom, where she was earlier admitted.
Cause of death
Valsal’s family members revealed that her cause of death was heart failure.

P Valsala is a renowned Indian Malayalam writer who was born on April 4, 1938, in Kozhikode, Kerala. During her childhood, she attended the Kanjirathinkal LP School before attending Nadakavu Girls High School. Although she initially started writing as a hobby; she later recognized it as her passion and pursued it as a career. Valsala belongs to an extremely rare group of Malayalam writers who have been widely recognized for their works.

P Valsala was 85 years old at the time of her passing.
Husband and children
P Valasala was married to her husband, Maroli Appukkutty, and the couple has one daughter and one son. Valasala reportedly met her husband, Appukkutty, while the air were still teaching at Kanjirathinkal LP School and at Nadakavu Girls High School. Following their wedding, the couple moved to Wayanad. Their two children are named MA Mini and Arun Maroli. Their son Arun works and lives in the United States, while their daughter, Dr. MA Mini, lives in India along with her family. Valsala reportedly lived her last days at her daughter’s house along with her husband.
Writing career
Throughout her life, Valsala wrote over 17 novels and 25 anthologies of stories, the most popular of which include Nizhalurangunna Vazhikal, Nellu, and Kolli. The recently deceased Malayali writer was famous for her distinct writing style.
Awards and achievements
Over her twenty-year literary career, Ms. Valsala has had several awards and achievements to her name. These include the Muttathu Varkey, the Ezhuthachan Puraskaram, and the Kerala Sahitya Akademi. Valsal was a writer for the left. She even faced criticism from the left for allegedly siding with the far-right during her later years. Notably, besides being a writer, Valsala also served as the chairperson of the Sahitya Akademi before her death.
