Red Bull team principal Christian Horner promised to give Nicholas Latifi a free supply of Red Bull for life after his crash helped Max Verstappen win the Abu Dhabi GP 2021
With Lewis Hamilton managing to overtake Max Verstappen in the first lap of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix 2021 itself, things looked extremely bleak and dreary for the Red Bull man.
As Hamilton managed to hold onto his lead with just five laps remaining on the night, it looked ascertained that the Brit would be easing to a record eighth drivers’ championship title. However, things soon waned for him as Nicholas Latifi crashed into the barrier in lap 53, an accident which lead to the safety car being asked to clean up the mess.

What ensured afterwards was what was the really troublesome issue with FIA race director Michael Masi allowing lapped cars to overtake with five drivers allowed to overtake. It came only minutes after he had refused teams to overtake, a move which was put to the sword with many hitting out at the Australian for his confusing school of thought.
While Masi is treading over thin ice, Latifi on the other hand has earned Christian Horner, the Red Bull team principal’s respect for crashing out of the race. Horner went onto assure Latifi of a lifetime supply of Red Bull as a gesture of thanks for his help in making Max Verstappen the champion.
“He’ll be getting a lifetime supply of Red Bull for sure.
“Thank you Nicholas Latifi for that safety car. I have to say with the stewards they did great to get the race going again.
“We were screaming at him [F1 race director Michael Masi] ‘let them race’.
“It has been an insane competition and for Max to win the world championship – it is not just about here,” Horner said after the race.
