Dehadrai pursued his Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) at Savitribai Phule Pune University from 2006 to 2011. During this period, he also obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Indian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS), Pune.
Furthering his legal education, Dehadrai pursued Corporate Diplomacy at the Wharton School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 2012 to 2013. Concurrently, he earned his LL.M. from the University of Pennsylvania with a focus on various aspects of US corporate law, including advanced mergers and acquisitions.
His family is from a small town near Nagpur, called Dehad and his parents shifted to Delhi while his father Anant Dehadrai is a lawyer in the Supreme Court of India. Jai is currently unmarried and single but was dating Mahua Moitra with the age difference between the two at 14 years. Both are laying their claim over a rottweiler dog named Henry.

Jai Anant Dehadrai’s career in law has been marked by diverse experiences and achievements. He began as a research intern at the Office of the Chief Justice of India, Supreme Court, New Delhi, and later served as a research intern at Tata Motors, Pune, India.
Subsequently, Dehadrai worked as an associate attorney at Karanjawala & Company, followed by a stint as a foreign attorney at Kline & Specter, PC in Philadelphia. Additionally, he worked as a judicial clerk for Justice SA Bobde at the Supreme Court of India.
In March 2015, he assumed the role of legal counsel to the Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Bennett Coleman and Company Limited (Times Group) before becoming a partner in September 2015.
Apart from his legal practice, Jai Anant Dehadrai is an accomplished author. His book “Aequabilis” provides an intricate analysis of the verdict delivered by former Chief Justice of India RS Pathak.
In October 2023, Jai Anant Dehadrai became embroiled in a high-profile controversy involving Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra and BJP Lok Sabha member Nishikant Dubey. Dubey accused Moitra of accepting bribes from a businessman, Darshan Hiranandani in exchange for raising questions in Parliament.
Moitra responded by issuing legal notices to both Dubey and Dehadrai, accusing them of defamation and making false allegations against her. The notice outlined offensive and malicious messages allegedly sent by Dehadrai, as well as accusations of trespassing and theft.
