Eden Hazard career
The Belgian international began his football career at just four years old, playing for his hometown club Royal Stade Brainois. He spent about eight years playing at the club before eventually making a move to AFC Tubize. During his time there, Lille sparked an interest in him and offered an aspirant contract. Hazard’s parents gladly accepted the offer and he joined the club in 2005.
Later in May 2007, Hazard signed his first-ever professional contract with Lille, after agreeing on a three-year deal. He then made his move to Chelsea back in 2012 for a massive £32m. It was here that he gained prominence and made a name for himself as one of the world’s best players. Hazard eventually joined Real Madrid later in 2019 for a deal worth a club-record £130m including bonuses.
Despite initially signing a five-year deal up until 2024, he never really settled in and had an injury-plagued time at Real Madrid. Due to his series of injuries, coupled with his poor form, the club eventually terminated his contract a year ahead during the summer. As a result, several clubs were reportedly interested in signing Hazard on a free transfer. However, the former Chelsea icon has ultimately decided to retire from his football career aged just 32.
