Chelsea fans were heard singing the new Edouard Mendy chant during Watford vs Chelsea, a video of which has since emerged 

At a time when Kepa was turning out to be a searing headache for Chelsea, the club knew it needed to turn its attention elsewhere and replace the most expensive goalkeeper.

The club’s plight took Peter Cech to Ligue 1 with him unearthing Senegalese Edouard Mendy for the club based out of London. And Mendy has taken to the Premier League like a fish takes to water ever since he’s been in between the sticks for Chelsea, a player who has in the course of the last year emerged as the watchdog of the side’s goal.

Parrying away almost everything sent down his way when Chelsea took on Watford, Mendy played an instrumental role in ensuring Chelsea were able to get past the finishing line on the day. The club’s 2-1 win was massively down to Mendy with the Chelsea travelling fans ensuring Mendy was able to get the plaudits he deserved on the night.

The Chelsea fans were heard bellowing a new chant for Mendy from the away end, a song inspired by the lyrics of the Waka Waka song. Video of the chant has since gone viral with Mendy having fast endeared himself to the Stamford Bridge faithful.

Where Chelsea fans have fallen in love with the shotstopper, Mendy continues to yearn for recognition on the global stage. He was recently denied of the Yashin Trophy with Donnarumma being handed over the coveted trophy despite yearning for the kind of stats Mendy possesses at the moment.
