His full name is Anthony Michael Gerard Rota. He was born on 15 May 1961 in North Bay, Ontario, Canada. Upon his graduation from high school, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in political science from Wilfrid Laurier University. Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Ottawa and a certification in finance from Algonquin College.

Anthony Rota is married, and his wife’s name is Chantal Piché-Rota. The couple has one daughter named Samantha.

He speaks English, French, Italian, and Spanish with ease. Rota is currently 62 years old.

His career

Before becoming a politician, Anthony Rota was the regional manager for Ontario at the Industrial Research Assistance Program. He has also worked in the private sector and served with the Canadian Technology Network in Ottawa.

Rota started off in politics as a municipal councilor before winning the Liberal Party candidacy for Nipissing—Timiskaming in 2004. In later elections, he had both successes and failures, and in December 2019, he was elected Speaker of the House of Commons. However, in 2023, he resigned from his post.
