The Hangzhou Asian Games have kicked off, and India has already secured medals in both rowing and shooting disciplines on the inaugural day in the live medal table for 2023
As per latest updates, India has managed a total of five medals including three silver medals and two silver medals.
In the 18 previous iterations of the Asian Games, India has achieved remarkable success, securing a total of 672 medals (comprising 155 gold, 201 silver, and 316 bronze). India’s stellar performance has consistently included winning gold medals in every single edition of the games. Notably, athletics stands out as the most prolific sport for India, contributing significantly with a total of 254 medals, including an impressive 79 gold medals.

2023 Asian Games results, best performers, and medal winners
The Indian rowing team participated in a total of five finals on Sunday, namely the men’s lightweight double sculls, men’s double sculls, women’s four, men’s pair, and men’s eight events. In the first of these finals, Arjun Lal Jat and Arvind Singh secured the silver medal, while Babu Lal Yadav and Lekh Ram earned a bronze medal in the men’s pairs event. Additionally, the men’s eights team clinched the silver medal.
In the realm of shooting, India’s talented athletes Ashi Chouksey, Mehuli Ghosh, and Ramita displayed their skills, combining to achieve a silver medal in the women’s team event. Furthermore, Ramita and Mehuli both qualified for the individual final by finishing in the 2nd and 6th positions, respectively, in the qualification round. Notably, Ramita clinched the bronze medal in the individual final and increased India’s medal count to five.
