De Bruyne was the winner of the same award in 2020 as well as he broke the magical streak of Lionel Messi who won in 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2019. Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer has won the award in 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2020, while former Real Madrid’s goalkeeper Iker Casillas won the award in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011.
