Missing tennis player Peng Shuai finally surfaced at a public event in China with her also holding a video call with the President of the IOC
China’s CPC government is notoriously known to censor any kind of news which doesn’t align with its policies or paint the country in a rosy manner. And the same was on show with Peng Shuai with the notable tennis player vanishing off the face of the Earth after she accused ex-Vice-President Zhang Gaoli of sexual assaulting her.
Peng who had taken to Weibo to make the allegations had gone onto describe how Gaoli had forcefully had sex with her right in the presence of his wife. And although the Chinese government took no time in taking down her post, it had gone viral online with people posting screenshots of it everywhere.

However, the WTA refused to allay the fears it had over Peng’s safety with it continuing to voice its concerns regarding the player.
“It was good to see Peng Shuai in recent videos, but they don’t alleviate or address the WTA’s concern about her wellbeing and ability to communicate without censorship or coercion,” a WTA spokesperson said in an email.
