World Athletics Championships 2023 day six competition preview and athletes to watch
The women’s 400m hurdles will have a new world champion on day 6 of the ongoing championships. Reigning champion Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone earlier withdrew from the event due to a knee injury. Going into the competition, Dutch sensation Femke Bol is the favourites to win the title after winning silver last year. Meanwhile, the men’s long jump finals are also taking place on day 6 with the People’s Republic of China’s Wang Jianan as the strong favorite to defend his title. His closest competitors are Olympic champion Miltiadis Tentoglou, and Jamaica’s former world champion Tajay Gayle. Rising Jamaican star Wayne Pinnock is also another competitor worth watching.
Meanwhile, the United States’ newly crowned 100m champions duo Sha’Carri Richardson, and Noah Lyles, will compete in the 200m semi-finals. Sha’Carri will face tough competition from reigning champion Shericka Jackson while Erriyon Knighton and Olympic champion Andre de Grasse are the top names in the men’s.
