Tragedy struck the motorbike racing world as Gary Vines, a seasoned motorbike racer, died following a crash at the Manx Grand Prix qualifying session with his crash accident video viral
The rider from Colchester was only 33 years old.
Vines was on his first lap of the opening session when the accident occurred at Ballagarey in Glen Vine. Emergency staff swiftly responded to the crash, but despite their efforts, the organizers announced that Vines had succumbed to his injuries.

The organizers released a statement saying, “It is with a heavy heart that the Manx Grand Prix can confirm the loss of Gary Vines, who succumbed to injuries sustained in an accident in the first qualifying session of the 2023 event.
I first met Gary Vines when he came to compete in the 2015 Newcomers Manx GP, which of course he won – along with award for best turned out bike. I got to know him better when he came to my son Jack’s wedding.

A skilled racer remembered
Gary Vines was not only an exceptional motorbike racer but also a skilled off-road rider. He had previously contested in the notorious Red Bull Romaniacs hard enduro rallye. Vines made his debut at the Manx Grand Prix in 2015 and went on to win the Newcomers B Race. He earned a podium finish in the 2018 Lightweight Race and collected top ten finishes when it was the Classic TT.
The loss of Gary Vines has left a void in the racing community. The organizers’ statement continued, “Gary was a well-loved and respected member of the paddock and his peers will fondly remember a skilled and stylish racer with an impressive racing CV. The loss of Gary will be felt deeply by all.”
