The upcoming series, will be Afghanistan’s first ever ODI competition since last month’s 2-1 away series win over Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Pakistan will be playing their first-ever ODI series in the upcoming series since their 2-1 home series win over New Zealand back in May this year. Pakistan and Afghanistan have previously clashed against each other earlier this year in a three match T20I series in Sharjah. Afghanistan won the series 2-1, over Pakistan.

The Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium in Hambantota will host the first two matches of the series. Meanwhile, the third and final match will take place at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo.
