Pro Kabaddi League’s (PKL) 10th edition is set to get underway on December 2, the organizers of the league announced.
According to the Pro Kabaddi League organizers Mashal Sports, the competition will return with the familiar 12-city caravan structure for it’s tenth iteration. In this format, the 2023 PKL matches will be played in twelve cities and it will allow local fans to enjoy the performance of their favorite teams.
It is confirmed that the upcoming season will kick-off on 2nd December and the official auction process will be held from 8th September through 9th September in Mumbai. Till now, eighty-four players have been retained by their respective teams ahead of PKL 2023 and to complete their squad, teams will now try to capture the best players from the auction process.
How will auction process work in 2023 Pro Kabaddi League?
Notably, there will be more than 500 players up for bid in the Pro Kabaddi 2023 auction pool. Players from teams that have been released as well as domestic kabaddi players are both included in the pool. Along with the teams from PKL Seasons 8 and 9, the top eight teams from the Senior Nationals Kabaddi Championship over the previous two seasons are also included. For this season, International players will also be included in the bidding pool. Furthermore, twenty-four players from the 2023 Khelo India University Games finalist teams will be included in the auction process.
As per tournament regulations, each team can retain maximum of six players from their previous season roster and must release remaining players for the auction process. In PKL history, Pawan Kumar Sehrawat has been the most expensive player and he was bought by Tamil Thalaivas for fee of INR 2.26 crore. However, his unfortunate injury in the first game of PKL 9 forced him to miss the remainder of the season.
