Fermin Lรณpez Marรญn is a rising Spanish football talent who was born on 11 May 2003 and is currently 20-years-old. Lopez currently plays as a midfielder for Barcelona Atlรจtic after joining the side back in 2015. Fermin has by far been the most impressive player from La Masia this summer. Fermin Lopez shines at Barcelonaโs preseason El Clasico fixture
Fermin Lopez has so far been the unexpected star of Barcelonaโs preseason tour. During the first preseason match against Arsenal, Fermin was the only youth player included in both line-ups of each half. Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez then decided to give the youngster a surprising start during the match against Madrid.
During the second half of the match, Fermin scored a fine goal past Madrid keeper Thibaut Courtois. Fermin received a pass near the edge of the area and swerved the ball into the corner with extraordinary power. This beautiful goal from the youngster made the score 2-0. Following this, Fermin then run up the attacking half and sent an excellent pass towards Ferran Torres, who made the score 3-0. Ferminโs accurate pass allowed Torres to get past Courtois with a ‘sombrero’ and simply shoot in the empty net.
Fermin Lopez career and future at Barca
Fermin joined started out his career with Barรงa back in 2018 when he joined from Real Betis aged 15. Ahead of this summerโs preseason tour the youngster impressed everyone, particularly Xavi, during their training sessions. As such, Xavi, decided to give the youngster a chance, which worked out very well. Last season, Fermin was on loan at Linares, and scored 12 goals and registered four assists across 40 appearances.
As things stand, Fermรญn is clearly determined to earn a spot in Xaviโs squad as proven by his performances at the recent Clรกsico match. The club’s decision to loan him out and see his potentials emerge have definitely proved well. While earning a start with the first team under Xavi is clearly a worthy achievement, his current true goal would be to earn a starting place with Barรงa Atlรจtic under Rafa Mรกrquez. Hopefully, the youngster will see this come to fruition in the upcoming season.
