The July 21 release of Nithin Krishnamurthy’s directorial debut, which was met with unanticipated controversy, turned out to be a surprise box office hit, selling over 2.10 lakh tickets over the course of the previous weekend and earning Rs 5 crore.

Prior to the film’s debut, some industry insiders believed that Hostel Hudugaru would be better suited for a limited-screen multiplex or an OTT platform.
