2023 Korea Open schedule, date, venue, fixtures, & first-round draw
According to the official schedule, Sindhu will begin her 2023 Korea Open campaign with a first-round tie against Taiwanese shuttler Pai Yu-po. However, she might have to face the reigning Olympic champion Chen Yufei if things progress as expected. Meanwhile, fellow Indian star Malvika Bansod will face an uphill task of defeating fourth-seed Tai Tzu-ying in the first-round.
In the men’s singles category, Indian ace HS Prannoy is ranked fifth-seed and will begin his title quest with a tie against Julien Yarraggi. Meanwhile, Kidambi Srikanth will clash against experienced Japanese shuttler Kento Momota and Mithun Manjunath will play against Ng Tze Yong. According to BWF, the 2023 Korea Open will have a $420,000 total prize pool due to it’s status of BWF World Tour Super 500 event. By winning the singles category, champion shuttler can bag $31,500 as prize money, and each winning doubles pair will receive $33,180. Meanwhile, each runner-up of this competition will get a prize of $15,960. Unfortunately, the losers of this tournament’s opening round will have to go home without any rewards.
