The IPL is a T20 cricket tournament with a short format in which ten teams compete for cash prizes and the coveted IPL trophy. Several franchises have been a part of the IPL lineup since it first started in 2008, whereas some have only recently joined.
Due to high fan demand and the IPL’s increasing popularity, 10 teams were added to the league in 2022, up from the previous 8 teams.
One of the most prominent and enduring IPL teams is Chennai Super Kings. The face of the Chennai Super Kings since 2008, Modern cricketing legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni has led the team to four IPL titles.

Indian industrialist and businessman Narayanaswami Srinivasan is in charge of India Cements. Srinivasan has previously served as the head of the ICC and BCCI. He served as the TNCA’s (the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association) president.
He was born on January 3, 1945, in Tamil Nadu. He is the son of T.S. Narayanaswami, a co-founder of India Cements.
As vice-chairman and managing director, Srinivasan joined India Cements in 1989. He continues to oversee it today. His daughter, Rupa Gurunath, serves as the company’s permanent director.
In 2008, India Cements purchased the Chennai Super Kings IPL franchise for $91 million. In 2011, Srinivasan succeeded Shashank Manohar as president of the BCCI.
N. Srinivasan’s controversies
Due to his participation in the ICC and BCCI as well as his leadership of the IPL, N. Srinivasan is a contentious figure. Numerous media experts and cricket commentators attacked the conflict of interest, but it had no impact.
The spot-fixing and betting scandal involving the IPL surfaced in 2013. Gurunath Meiyappan, Srinivasan’s son-in-law, was also complicit in the crime, according to the investigation. In the end, he was charged along with Rajasthan Royals co-owner Raj Kundra, and was permanently barred from all cricket-related activities.
When Srinivasan was president of the BCCI at the time, he came under fire for his relations with Meiyappan. India Cements was fined by the RM Lodha Committee in 2015, and Chennai Super Kings were banned from the IPL for two years.
What is N. Srinivasan’s net worth?
The estimated net worth of N. Srinivasan as of 2022 is $7.2 billion.
