Trainers rushed to treat both drivers right away, and finally, Wilson was put into an ambulance while being shackled to a backboard. Wilson was thankfully able to offer a thumbs up just before he was taken to a local hospital, and now, according to Dr Julia Vaizer, the IndyCar medical director, he is “doing well” and “in good spirits.” Legge, meantime, was examined by medical personnel after the collision but has now been given the all-clear to drive.

Stefan Wilson will not compete in the Indianapolis 500.
Due to a back injury received in a major accident on Monday, Stefan Wilson, the younger brother of the late F1 and IndyCar driver Justin, will miss the Indianapolis 500 on Sunday. For 33-year-old Wilson and his family, the situation couldn’t have been more terrifying because Justin, Wilson’s older brother, sadly perished in an on-track accident back in 2015.
His Dreyer & Reinbold team reported that the 33-year-old had a fracture of the 12th thoracic vertebra. “Wilson won’t be able to participate in this Sunday’s 107th Indianapolis 500 Mile Race due to this kind of injury,” the team added.
It would have been Wilson’s fifth Indianapolis 500 start. In an IndyCar race at Pocono Raceway in 2015, his brother made eight appearances but passed away after being hit in the helmet by debris.
At nearly 229 mph, Will Power leads Monday’s practice.
With a speed of nearly 229 mph, Will Power of Team Penske achieved the quickest time during Monday’s practice for the 107th Indianapolis 500. With the aid of a strong pull, Power lapped the 2.5-mile Indianapolis Motor Speedway track in 39.2633 seconds at a speed of 229.222 mph in his Chevrolet-powered vehicle.
