The NBA playoffs saw more inappropriate fan behaviour, watch a brutal punch was thrown at a Knicks supporter by a Brooklyn Nets fan after the Knicks won game three with the fight video viral

The New York Knicks showed their mettle against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night.

When they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinal series on Friday night, the New York Knicks sent a message about how they anticipate the rest of the series to play out.

The Knicks defeated the Cavaliers 99-79 to take a 2-1 series lead and held them to the fewest points scored by any NBA club this season.

The Knicks fan base gathered in full force outside Madison Square Garden, but not everyone was in good mood.

In the crowd, there was a Brooklyn Nets fan who appeared unhappy for an unidentified reason. He was seen moving through the crowd and punching a Knicks fan at random in the video.

Guard Darius Garland, who scorched the Knicks for 32 points in Game 2, struggled in the game, shooting 4-for-21 from the field.

After going a combined 6-for-25 in Games 1 and 2 in Cleveland, RJ Barrett responded with 19 points in Game 3, finally realising his potential.

On Sunday at home, the Knicks are the -200 favourites to win Game 4 of their series with the Cavaliers. If they succeed, the victor of the Bucks-Heat series will be their opponent in the next round.

Meanwhile, the Philadelphia 76ers defeated the Brooklyn Nets 96-88 in game four of the NBA Playoffs to take the series 4-0.

The 76ers, who were playing without star centre Joel Embiid, performed well in the second half to win and move on to the Eastern Conference semifinals, where they will face either Boston or Atlanta.

Embiid, a finalist for the Most Valuable Player honour, injured his right knee during Thursday’s game three.

The Sixers were down by 11 points at the start of the third quarter. De’Anthony Melton scored 15 points after coming off the bench as they went on an 18-4 run to retake the lead and win the game in the fourth.
