His career
Since 2000, Jagarnath Mahto has held the Dumri Assembly seat, a JMM stronghold. He won the 2014 Assembly elections with 77,984 votes, beating his nearest rival, Lalchand Mahto, who ran on the BJP ticket.
He was in the news once because he awarded Alto cars to the state toppers of classes 10 and 12 in Jharkhand as part of a ground-breaking effort to enhance the morale of the kids performing well in their examinations.
