Goh Jin Wei, who won the women’s singles gold medal for Malaysia at the Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires in 2018, was defeated 13-21, 10-21 by eighth-seed Thai Pornpawee Chochuwong. Meanwhile, top-seed Akane Yamaguchi comfortably secured straight-set victory by score of 21-11, 21-14. It is confirmed that Akane will face-off against fifth-seed Chinese star Wang Zhiyi in the quarterfinal. Elsewhere, in-form Korean ace An Se-young has secured her berth in the quarterfinal, where she will clash against compatriot Kim G-e.
