Lewis Hamilton is of the belief that we are in for more crashes this F1 season as he took a swipe at Max Verstappen
What had initially started out as only a rivalry for the championship title this season soon turned sour as Lewis Hamilton decided to take Max Verstappen out of the British Grand Prix. He had deliberately edged into the rear of the Red Bull, coyly sending Verstappen spinning into the barrier at Silverstone.
Ensuing the incident, Verstappen’s comments made it clear that things were going to no longer be hunk dory between the two. Hamilton had pushed his luck with Verstappen with the Red Bull man talking about how he was infuriated with Hamilton’s celebrations after ending his race.
Come the Italian Grand Prix and Verstappen decided to extract his bit of revenge. Despite their being extremely little space to overtake, Verstappen decided to keep breathing down Hamilton’s neck with him ultimately ending up over the Mercedes.
Lewis Hamilton Hints At Further Crashes With Max Verstappen
Hamilton who was fortuitous to walk away from the incident unscathed owing to the halo had spoken about how he was surprised at Verstappen’s reaction. The Red Bull driver had walked away from the crash site without inquiring about Hamilton’s safety, a decision Verstappen has since gone onto justify.
And although Verstappen was handed a three-place grid penalty for the forthcoming Russian Grand Prix, Hamilton believes this isn’t the last we have seen of such crashes.
“This will continue,” the current World Champion said while speaking to GPFans.
“We have to learn from our scenarios on track and I don’t have a history of these incidents.
“Ultimately, when you get away with things like that then it’s easy just to continue to do it,” he continues.
