Shortly after the death of Waris Khan, Monu Manesar made headlines again when two Muslim men identified as Junaid and Nasir, were found dead back of a burnt vehicle in Haryana’s Bhiwani region on 16th of February 2023. The two were residents of the village Gopalgarh which is in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur. However, his name has since been disassociated from the case by the Rajasthan government.

Who is Monu Manesar?
Monu Manesar hails from Manesar in Haryana and his real name is Mohit Yadav. He has been associated with Bajrang Dal for the last 10-12 years and has emerged as a major force against cow smugglers in the recent years, Aaj Tak reported and is also a member of the cow protection task force. He reportedly resided in Gurugram and is a Hindu by religion.
The term ‘Yadav’ covers many castes which initially had different names: Ahir in the Hindi belt, Punjab and Gujarat, Gavli in Maharashtra, Gola in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka etc and their traditional common function, all over India, was that of herdsmen, cowherds and milksellers.
In the complaint which has been made to the police, Ismail has stated, ‘Junaid and Nasir had left for Bharatpur town on the morning of February 15th for personal work. Around 9 am, a stranger informed him that Junaid and Nasir had been brutally beaten up by a group of men prior to being kidnapped. Monu Manesar and his group are behind their murder. They have kidnapped Junaid and Nasir from Rajasthan’s Piruka forests and they took them to Haryana’s Bhiwani, where they were burned alive,” he stated.
The people on the spot of the incident have stated they were from Bajrang Dal including Anil who is a resident of Multhan, Shrikant who is a resident of Maroda, Rinku Saini who is a resident of Ferozepur Jhirka, Lokesh Singla resident of Hodal, and Monu resident of Manesar”.
Based on the complaint, Rajasthan Police filed an FIR on 16th February 2023 against the six members of Bajrang Dal under Indian Penal Code Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 365 (kidnapping or abducting with intent secretly and wrongfully to confine person), 367 (kidnapping or abducting in order to subject a person to grievous hurt, slavery, etc.) and 368 (wrongfully concealing or keeping in confinement, kidnapped or abducted person).
Monu Manesar is considered the face of cow protection in the state of Haryana.
Bajrang Dal member Monu Manesar when asked about his role in the death case of Waris, he flatly rejected the allegations. However, following the filing of FIR in this Rajasthan case, Manesar’s phone has been switched off since then, and his team members were not answering their phones as well. And those who were seen close to him on his social media now have denied knowing him.
