UBreathe is a biotech startup founded in 2018 with a primary focus on developing plant-based air purifiers. The company’s founders, Sanjay Maurya, Akhil Gupta, Akshay Goyal, and Inderjeet Rao, were driven by a shared goal to create a consumer product from India that could help mitigate the adverse effects of air pollution while being sustainable and eco-friendly.

Its air purifiers leverage modern technology to enhance the natural air-purifying abilities of plants. The design is centered on improving soil breathability, which helps optimize a plant’s capacity to filter pollutants from the air.

The company’s research is supported by renowned institutions like IIT Ropar, CIIE.CO IIM Ahmedabad, Meity, BIRAC, and the Nexus US Embassy Delhi. UBreathe has filed 6 patents in India and Europe to safeguard its innovative technology.

Its experience on Shark Tank India 2

UBreathe Life was offered a business deal by Shark Namita. The offer proposed an investment of ₹50 lakh for 5% equity and ₹1 crore debt at a 10% interest rate, which valued the company at ₹10 crore.

The business pitcher countered the offer, proposing to give away 4% equity for the same amount of investment and debt, but with a higher valuation of ₹12.5 crore. However, Shark Namita rejected the counteroffer, and after further negotiations, the final deal was agreed upon for the original offer of ₹50 lakh for 5% equity and ₹1 crore debt at a 10% interest rate.
