The girl slipped and fell 30 feet off a sheer face cliff while out on the Moab Rim Trail with some pals in the Kane Creek Canyon area.

How did Zoe die?

According to Moab Police, the incident happened on February 10 about 4:10 p.m. Her friends tried to get in touch with her by dialing 911, but they were unable to do so safely. She was known as Zoe McKinney at her school. The scene was quickly responded to by the Moab Police Department, Grand County Sheriff’s Office, Grand County Search & Rescue, Moab Fire, and EMS.

They further noted that Fire, EMS, and Search and Rescue professionals all worked hard to ascend to the area above the victim. They were able to rappel down to the victim using harnesses and climbing equipment with ropes. Sadly, the fall had killed her. Rescuers worked carefully to recover her body over the next two hours, according to the police.

Condolences pour in from everywhere.

They expressed their condolences to the family and added, “We at the Moab Police Department would like to send our deepest sympathies to her family and friends. Although the loss of a beloved young woman and friend has a devastating effect on this small community, we are confident that Moab’s beautiful residents will come together to assist and console her family and friends during this difficult time.”

“Zoe was a brilliant student and we will commemorate her memory throughout the duration of this senior year,” Grand County High School stated in a statement.
