Britt Reid, the son of Andy Reid, worked as a coach at various levels for eight seasons in Kansas City

However, he’s unlikely to ever coach in the NFL once more as he has been severing his jail time in prison.

What happened to Britt Reid?

In February 2021, the younger Reid was driving a car when it collided with another car, injuring a five year old girl named Ariel Young. It turns out that Reid was drunk when he was behind the wheel, which resulted in a subsequent arrest and prison term.

Three days before Super Bowl 55, on February 4, 2021, Reid ran into a parked car close to the Chiefs’ headquarters. Reid admitted to drinking to the police, however it was later found that his blood alcohol content was 0.113, which was beyond the 0.08 legal limit. Near the facility, the car Reid collided with was stranded on the side of the road.

A 5-year-old girl was involved in a crash that put her in a coma for 10 days; as a result, she had to relearn how to walk. Reid was accused with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated on April 12, 2021, a crime that carries a potential seven-year prison term.

In an effort to treat the family fairly, the Chiefs agreed to cover their medical costs and give them long-term financial security. As part of a plea agreement, Reid admitted admission to the charges in September 2022, one year later. Reid received a sentence of three years in jail in November 2022. Shortly after the verdict, Reid was arrested.

Reid’s encounter with the law wasn’t his first. When a judge found him and his now-deceased brother Garrett running a “drug emporium” out of the Reid home in 2007, he was given a sentence of up to 23 months in prison. The same year, Britt Reid was sued for allegedly pointing a gun in someone’s face after an altercation involving road rage.
