However, despite being in his nemesis’ premises, Hamilton did manage to get some love. An ardent supporter of Hamilton ended up paying a staggering 1,600 pounds to have a plane flown over Zandvoort during free practice on Friday.
The plane carried a banner with a message in support of Hamilton. The message quoted Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and his engineer’s catchphrase when the Dutchman takes pole positions with the entire banner reading, “7 X WDC [World Drivers’ Champion]. Simply lovely #TeamLH.”

“It’s a cheeky opportunity to show Lewis some extra support as he steps into the lion’s den here in Max’s back yard.” Neil Steele, the fan who had, had the plane flown went onto say.
“We may be few, but as Lewis says – still we rise!” he continued.
Lewis Hamilton meanwhile had his FP2 come to an early end with him managing only three laps before a power failure ended his sojourn on the day and saw him finish in 11th place. His lead has been cut down to a scanty 3 points after Max Verstappen took half the points in a rain drenched Belgian GP.
