Have a look at the list of past winners at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, and runners-up

The first edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which was held in 2009, came one year after the men’s championship. There have already been seven such competitions.

The first two editions of the 20-over or Women’s T20 World Cup were held one year apart, but since then it has been held once every two years and, most recently, once every three years, with just three of the 11 countries making it all the way to the final and winning the championship.

Australia has won five of the seven ICC Women’s T20 World Cup championships, followed by England and the West Indies, who have each won the tournament once. Australia has had the greatest success of any team, with five championships to its record.

The increase in prize money for the 2020 event was 320% as compared to the previous edition.

England won the first tournament in 2009, but Australia won the next three championships in 2010, 2012, and 2014. In 2016, West Indies overthrew Australia’s reign. But Australia went on to win the following two championships as well.

Although they were in contention for first place, India and New Zealand lost out at the last hurdle. Compared to New Zealand, which lost two finals in 2009 and 2010, the Indian squad lost just one final in 2010.

The Women’s T20 World Cup has so far been held in the West Indies, England, Australia, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Only two nations have won the event as hosts, England in 2009 and Australia in 2020.
