Her career

Back in 2015–16, Soumya Tiwari began playing with paper balls and a thaapi thapki, a wooden pole used to wash clothes beneath a tap.

When she was a little child, coach Suresh Chainani first turned her down since he did not train females at his Bhopal academy after several girls left the academy. However, she was later chosen by Chainani to attend the Arera Cricket Academy at the Old Campion Ground in Bhopal. She played for the academy’s boys’ squad and underwent off-spinner development before focusing on her batting.

Before the final game, Tiwari had amassed a total of 82 runs, including a 22-run inning against New Zealand in the semifinal. She had also taken three wickets during the competition with her off-spin.
