In 2016, his show ‘Fish of the Day’ won ‘Best Lifestyle Show’ award which was at the ‘Houston International Film Festival.’ This show gained massive popularity when it was screened in more than 35 countries after it was purchased by the ‘National Geographic Channel.’

Gayford, 41, was born and raised in Gisborne, the eldest of three while he and his two younger sisters were growing up. Clarke is the son of Peri Vivienne (McDonald) and Antony Clarke “Tony” Gayford.
Clarke Gayford currently resides in Wellington along with his partner Jacinda Ardern and daughter Neve Te Aroha. Gayford is the oldest of his three siblings. He was earlier in relationships with musician Hollie Smith, and Shortland Street actress Shavaughn Ruakere.
