With his coordinated moves, Anish Giri managed to secure a suprising victory against reigning world champion Magnus Carlsen at the 2023 Tata Steel Chess Masters. In another match of fourth round, Fabiano Caruana settled for a draw against Richard Rapport despite Caruana heading towards victory in the closing moments. Meanwhile, Arjun Erigaisi held Vincent Keymer to a draw as both of the teenage prodigies showcased flawless moves.
Among other matches of the day, Abdusattorov earned a comfortable win against Maghsoodloo to remain at the top of standings. However, the day’s highlight result was Indian sensation Pragg’s victory against second-seed Ding Liren that propelled the teenager to just 0.5 points behind the leading group of contenders. Except these three decisive games, other four games of the day ended in a draw after none of the players were able to force out the winning move.
