Although fans had high hopes from fifth-seed Indian ace PV Sindhu, she faltered in the very first-round with a defeat against Thai star Katethong. Meanwhile, reigning Olympic champion Chen Yufei earned hard-fought victory by score of 21-19, 22-20 against Michelle Li.
