2023 Malaysia Open women’s singles latest results, day 2 schedule, date, venue, fixtures, & first-round draw
Akane Yamaguchi, the current women’s world champion, defeated Danish shuttler Line Kjaersfeldt by scores of 17-21, 21-13, & 21-15 in the opening round of the 2023 Malaysia Open. While this was going on, Taiwanese ace Tai Tzu-ying overpowered her Spanish opponent Azurmendi to win in straight sets by scores of 21-10, 21-10. In a different match, Chinese standout Han Yue defeated out-of-sorts Indian shuttler Saina Nehwal by a score of 12-21, 21-17, & 12-21 to cause Nehwal’s early elimination.
From January 10 through January 15, this competition will take place at Kuala Lumpur’s Axiata Arena inside KL Sports City. Wednesday will host all of the remaining Malaysia Open first-round contests, including the heavyweight matchup between PV Sindhu and Carolina Marin. 2023 Malaysia Open: BWF points award system
Because this event will serve as the introduction of the 2023 BWF World Tour, all competitors will be hoping to get off to a strong start by winning the famed BWF Super 1000 tournament. At the 2023 Malaysia Open, 12,000 BWF points will be given to each category champion, giving the shuttler an advantage on the 2023 BWF World Tour. Due to her early exit, Saina Nehwal will only receive 3,000 BWF points and will not have the opportunity to move up significantly in the BWF World Rankings.

2023 Malaysia Open: prize money distribution
According to BWF announcement, the 2023 Malaysia Open will be a significant BWF World Tour Super 1000 event, hence the singles category winner will receive $87,500 in prize money as opposed to the runner-up receiving $42,500. Following their first-round exits, Saina Nehwal and Arundhati Kashyap will each collect $1,250 in prize money.
