Chalapathi Rao was born on the 8th of May 1944. He was a well-known Indian actor and producer who was known for his comedy and villain roles in the Telugu film industry. The actor had appeared in hundreds of films in a career spanning over six decades, and was last seen in the 2022 movie Bangarraju.

Chalapathi Rao is survived by his son Ravi Babu who is an actor, director, and producer in the Tollywood industry. Unfortunately, Chalapathi died from a heart attack on the 24th of December 2022 at the age of 78 years. His son Ravi’s career began when he got an invitation to participate in a course held by the Sony Institute in San Jose, California. After the course, he did a short stint at TV Asia as an ENG producer and also doubled up as a cameraman and editor.
His wife was Indumaty Rao, with whom he was married for several years.
Later on, in 1999 Ravi started his own production house, named Flying Frogs and he initially produced television commercials, but it further became a feature film production house.
