Sally Nugent is married and together with her husband she has one child. She was born and raised in Wirral Peninsula and attended Upton Hall School FCJ. Sally Nugent Professional Career
Sally’s first media role was at BBC Radio Merseyside before shifting on to report on and reading the sports news on BBC North West Tonight. Later on in 2003 Sally became a sports reporter for BBC News, appearing on the national bulletins, prior to becoming a sports news presenter for the BBC News Channel (known at the time as BBC News 24). There she traveled to Germany to record the 2006 FIFA World Cup, anchoring Sportsday.
She then spent a period as a news correspondent on Television and radio, and as a relief presenter for BBC News Channel. In November of 2011, Sally Nugent started co-presenting the BBC Breakfast on a freelance basis, filling in when regular hosts were not unavailable. From April of 2012, Sally presented sports bulletins along with Mike Bushell on Breakfast with following up the program’s move to its new location at Media City based in Salford.
Sally has established herself as a regular co-presenters of the Breakfast team after appearing on the Christmas Eve of 2012 edition with Bill Turnbull, to September of 2021 reporting on Emma Raducanu’s historic victory which was the US Open tennis championship.
On the 27th of October in 2021, it was declared that Sally Nugent would be becoming a permanent presenter on the BBC Breakfast along with Dan Walker, Charlie Stayt, and Naga Munchetty. She has replaced Louise Minchin following Minchin’s departure after 20 years on the program.
