Jana Sanderson, a former Miss Alabama winner, died at the age of 43 following a battle with cancer, know more about her cause of death
Last week, the sad news of Jana’s departure was revealed in an obituary published by the Gadsden-based Crestwood Funeral Home.

Following the announcement, the Facebook page for the Miss Alabama Competition and others posted heartfelt condolences to Jana and prayed for her family.
The Death Of Miss Alabama Jana Sanderson
On Friday, December 16, 2022, Jana Sanderson, a former Miss Alabama winner, passed away at her Gadsden home. She had a 43-year-old age. According to a statement from J&D Farms, Jana, who co-designed the location for weddings and receptions, passed away after a battle with cancer.
The farm said in the touching statement, “She heroically took on cancer with the grace and dignity that only Jana could. She made care packages for all of her infusion nurses every week of her treatment.ย
“She would choose unique presents for every nurse and take her time wrapping each one. She never once voiced complaints about the long-term neuropathy that resulted from this.”
The farm remembered Jana’s ability to connect with people on various levels and how she made couples feel special on the most important day of their life in the heartfelt tribute.

While attending Samford University, Jana won the Miss Alabama pageant in 2000. She obtained a communications degree from the institution and graduated. A year later, Miss Alabama 2001, she returned to the same beauty pageant and finished in the top 10. Jana excelled in her job after graduating from the university and went on to become a well-known photographer and marketing expert.
Jana loved to travel, was a fantastic cook, and adored cooking challenges. She was also a level 3 certified CrossFit coach.
A Facebook tribute from the Miss Alabama Competition reads, “A tremendously talented, educated, charming, and compassionate personality, she brought warmth into every room and enchanted everyone she met. We consider it a blessing to have known Jana and have her represent Miss Alabama.”

The funeral services for Jana will take place at College Heights Baptist Church, and they will be followed by a visitation and a memorial service.
Jana leaves behind a large extended family that includes her mother, stepmother, father, grandparents, and siblings. She was unmarried at the time of her death.
