Grant Wahl suffered an apparent heart attack during the match between Argentina and the Netherlands on 9th December and now another journalist named Grant Wahl passed away.
A journalist named Khalid al-Misslam has ‘suddenly’ died in Qatar while covering the FIFA World Cup, just 48 hours after the tragic death of the US journalist Grant Wahl.

Qatari photojournalist Khalid al-Misslam, who was working for Al Kass TV, reportedly died on Sunday, 11th of December. Khalid’s death was confirmed by the Qatari news outlet The Gulf Times. The “Al-Misslam, a Qatari, died suddenly while covering FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022,” the media outlet stated in a tweet. “We believe in the mercy of Allah and in the forgiveness for him, and send our deepest condolences to all of his family.”
Foul play has not been suggested at this stage as the circumstances surrounding Al-Misslam’s death are under investigation as his sudden death was really shocking. This shocking news was reported just days after the death of the US soccer journalist, Grant Wahl, who complained about being stopped from entering stadiums due to wearing a pro-LGBT t-shirt.

The journalist, who was covering the 8th World Cup of his career, suddenly collapsed during extra time in the semi-finals match between Argentina and the team Netherlands at Lusail’s iconic stadium on Friday. He was immediately taken to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead. The other journalists seated next to Wahl recalled it a horrific incident and revealed how medical experts performed CPR and used an automatic chest compressor for trying and revived him for around 20 minutes.
While the cause of death still is unknown, his brother Eric stated, ‘he believes Wahl was murdered in Qatar because of his constant protest against the Qatar government. My brother was really healthy. He told me he received death threats and I do not believe my brother just died. I believe he was killed, ” as per reports.
Dr Celine Gounder, who is the wife of Wahl for almost 21 years has shared her grief on Twitter and talked about her shock after learning about Wahl’s death.
