2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour: Leg 9 – Tour Finals Format, Schedule, Date, Time, & Participants
Prestigious 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour’s ninth and final event has arrived after a drama-filled season that lasted almost a full year of competition. The final competition in San Francisco will last seven days, from November 14 to November 20, and is an all-play-all round robin format. This upcoming competition known as 2022 Tour Finals, will be the third major competition of season and will feature a star-studded line-up with eight players. Among participants, four players will participate from SHACK15 in San Francisco while four others play remotely in a special hybrid online and in-person chess event.
Magnus Carlsen, the newly crowned Tour 2022 Champion, will be competing in-person at San Francisco for his fifth victory of the 2022 campaign. Wesley So, a three-time US Champion, will return this year and make his eagerly anticipated debut. After coming so close twice already this season, Indian teen star Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa will be hoping for his first tournament victory. Anish Giri is the other player, who will play in-person at San Francisco.
Jan-Krzysztof Duda, who finished second in the overall Tour standings after winning the Aimchess Rapid in October, will be joined by Shakhriyar Mamedyarov, who finished second in that competition. Vietnamese speed specialist Liem Quang Le, who is now fourth on the overall Tour leaderboard, and Arjun Erigaisi, another Indian wonderkid who has wowed audiences this year, round out the line-up of players participating online.

Meltwater Champions Chess Tour: Leg 9 – Tour Finals 2022 Prize Money Pool Distribution
The winner of each tie will get $7,500 prize money but if any tie goes to tiebreaker, winner will get $5,000 compared to $2,500 of runner-up. Hence, total prize fund for 2022 Tour Finals will be $210,000 and if any player manages to win all of his ties, he can bag $52,500.
