2022 Australian Open Badminton Doubles Category Schedule, Fixtures, Participants, & First Round Draw
Satwik Rankireddy & Chirag Shetty, the only seeded Indian team, will begin their 2022 Australian Open campaign against the Japanese team of Akira Toga & Taichi Saito. The other Indian men’s doubles pair, Arjun & Kapila, will find it challenging to defeat Liang & Wang, who are placed seventh overall. Simran & Ritika will begin their campaign with match against Indonesian pair Puspita Sari & Rachel Rose, while Rutaparna & Swetaparna will face-off against Taiwanese duo Lee & Teng in first-round. Surprisingly, no Indian pair will be participating in mixed doubles event.
India’s chances of winning a medal in the doubles event are slim due to an adverse draw and poor participation. Given that Satwik & Chirag, the fifth-seeded Indian team, had previously achieved a podium result by winning Denmark Open, it is not unreasonable to believe they will be able to do so again. For this upcoming event, tickets can be bought from here.
