Dr. Salvatore Babones noted in his address to the India Today summit in Mumbai that organizations study democracy in more than 150 nations, and the majority of those engaged showed little interest in India.
He added that the intellectual class in India is hostile to the country as a whole, not to specific people. He referred to the idea of India having a fascist regime as an “outrageous proposition.”
According to Babones, India is the “world’s biggest democratic success story” and the “only post-colonial well-institutional democracy.”

Who Is Salvatore Babones?
Dr. Salvatore Babones is a well-known American sociologist and educator. He has been in the news because he recently criticized Indiaโs intellectual class for being hostile towards their own country.
He was born in New Jersey, USA, on October 5, 1969, and he is an American citizen.
Later on, Salvatore Babones attended Johns Hopkins University where he first got a Master of Arts degree in Sociology in 1998 and a Master of Science degree in MS and Applied Mathematics in 2002. Later, he did Ph.D. there in Sociology.
He is married, however, nothing much is known about her wife and her family. He is currently 53 years old.
His Career
Dr. Salvatore Babones taught sociology at the University of Pittsburgh from 2003 to 2008 before moving on to the University of Sydney in 2008. Additionally, in 2015, he served as a visitingย associate professorย at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and a visiting scholar at Academia Sinica in Taipei (2015).
He has worked with or written for organizations such as the Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, the Latvian International Affairs Council in Riga, the Russian International Affairs Council in Moscow, the Centre for International Relations in Warsaw, the Poland-Asia Research Center in Warsaw, and the Centre for Independent Studies in Sydney.
Additionally, Salvatore Babones has written several books and scholarly papers and has contributed to publications including Foreign Affairs, Al Jazeera English, Quadrant, The Australian, and Truthout.
