2022 Aimchess Rapid Jan-Krzysztof Duda vs Shakhriyar Mamedyarov Latest Final Score & Update
During first day of 2022 Aimchess Rapid final, Jan-Krzysztof Duda secured commanding 3-1 lead against Mamedyarov thanks to two wins and two draws. In the first rapid match, both players agreed for draw but Duda won following rapid match to take 1.5-0.5 lead. Later in third rapid game, Mamedyarov managed to draw and keep his title dreams alive but owing to blunder by him in fourth match, Duda won the last match of day and headed to final day with massive 3-1 lead.
Against Mamedyarov, reigning world champion Duda outplayed his opponent through attacking play from very start. Heading into final day of Aimchess Rapid, it seems that Duda will likely clinch his second trophy of 2022 Meltwater Champions Chess Tour unless Mamedyarov manages to overturn the deficit through his own superb attacking play. During Friday’ second-set of four rapid matches, Duda only needs two points to clinch the title. However if Mamedyarov manages to win on Friday, a play-off will be contested.
